BLACK OUT

Conzept, Choreography: Philippe Saire (Choreography in Collaboration with the dancers Philippe Chosson, Maelle Desclaux, Jonathan Schatz) // Costumes: Tania DAmbrogio // Sound design: Stephane Vecchione // Dance: Maelle Desclaux, Mickael Henrotay Delaunay, Benjamin Kahn

In Foyer: Videodokumentary Cartographies (2002 – 2012) of Philippe Saire

Standing on an elevated surface, one sees from a bird’s perspective a deeper-lying square arena with three dancers. Everything is dark black, except the floor, which is white. Black granulate crashes down on the performers, whose movements captivate the spectators with constantly changing and fascinating graphic patterns.

„The transition from light to darkness, from life to death, from oil slick to raining ashes… Philippe Saire’s Black Out is a masterstroke that is watched from above: a moving picture of light, muscle and rubber dust. (Julien Burri, L’Hebdo, Switzerland)
